Celebrating Anna Hay: 100 Women in Cycling 2022

  • by

Following her Instructor of the Year win at the 2020 Bikeability Awards, Outspoken instructor Anna Hay has been announced as one of Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling 2022!

Anna has been an instructor with us for eight years, consistently delivering cycle training to a high standard and creating a learning environment that is fun and enjoyable for the participants. She helped deliver 39 Bikeability courses to schools in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk last academic year, and as a Peer Mentor on our instructor team she is a great role model for the other instructors she works with.

“I feel extremely proud that I get to work with some wonderful instructors every day who share the same goals of helping children and families to cycle more of the time. As a mentor I offer instructors guidance, support, motivation, feedback and I can share my many years of experience with them but it’s much more than that as you build great relationships with the people you work with. Together we help to bring out the best in the children we teach.”

This is one of Anna’s greatest strengths as an instructor. Her supportive nature in any situation makes her a credit to Outspoken, allowing her to both work very well with her fellow instructors and also provide first-class quality training to the children who take part.

“Anna is an exceptional instructor. Having worked with her on quite a few of my sessions I have found her to be an excellent peer mentor, managing to make me feel proud of my achievements yet also making me aware of the improvements I can make to my practice in a positive way. The children love her, and she always works in a progressive, understandable way no matter what age or ability the children she is teaching are.”

Anna’s ability to develop great relationships with colleagues, schools and children, along with her commitment to delivering high quality training, led to her winning Bikeability’s Instructor of the Year award in 2020. We at Outspoken were incredibly proud of her achievement then, and continue to be incredibly proud today! Congratulations Anna, this recognition of your hard work and dedication is well deserved; it is a pleasure to have you on our team.

“Knowing that those children will then go on to enjoy cycling for many more years to come is a great feeling and I’m very proud to be a part of that journey.”
