Recongised Prior Learning Qualification

Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training Recognised Prior Learning (L2AICT RPL)

Industry Requirement

All existing instructors (NSIPs, NSIQs and NSITs) have until 31st March 2024 to register for the L2AICT RPL qualification. Existing instructors can continue delivering up until this point.

About the Qualification

Awarding Body: 1st4Sport Qualifications

Qualification Duration: Up to 6 months

Assessment Methods: Learner Portfolio and Post Course Assessment (PCA)

Course Cost: £190 + VAT* (not including Post Course Assessment which is £160 + VAT + mileage)

*The Bikeability Trust are covering the full cost of the course (not including the Post Course Assessment).

Understanding the roles and responsibilities of the cycle training instructor

Planning cycle training and assessment

Delivering cycle training and assessment

Reviewing cycle training and assessment

Planning to improve professional practice

Timeline

  1. Register for the qualification

  2. Complete paper-based tasks (2-3 hours)

  3. Attend a 1-day Course

  4. Undertake a Post Course Assessment

Prerequisites

Prior to registration, learners are required to provide evidence:

  • of their existing instructor qualification (NSIP, NSIQ or NSIT number)
  • that they are delivering on behalf of an accredited Bikeability provider
