Outspoken Retain Northamptonshire Bikeability Contract

It is our pleasure to reveal that Outspoken Training have successfully secured Northamptonshire County Council’s new Bikeability cycle training contract beginning in April!

Bikeability is a modern cycle training programme which aims to get more people cycling, more safely, more often. Across the three levels and additional Bikeability Plus modules, trainees can progress from the basics of balancing and controlling their bicycles through to planning and making independent journeys on busier roads. Over the duration of this contract Outspoken will be offering:

  • Level 1 – Mastering bike handling skills in a traffic-free environment.
  • Level 2 – Learning to make short journeys on residential roads.
  • Level 3 – Learning to navigate through more complex road and traffic situations.
  • Balance – Developing the essential skills of agility, balance and coordination on balance bikes (bicycles without pedals)
  • Learn to Ride – Helping trainees to achieve the valuable life skill of learning to cycle for the first time.

Kieron, Head of Training commented:

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue enthusing and equipping the next generation of Northamptonshire cyclists with the skills, knowledge and understanding to ride more. It is a pleasure working with the county council and over 200 schools throughout the county to bring the joy of cycling to even more pupils.”

To date, Outspoken Training have delivered Bikeability training and interventions to over 8,000 Northamptonshire pupils in 2 years thanks to grant funding acquired from the Department for Transport by Northamptonshire County Council.

Outspoken Training are looking for enthusiastic individuals to deliver a variety of our school and/or adult cycling initiatives throughout Northamptonshire. For more information, please visit:
