Introducing The Bikeability Trust

We are delighted to let you know about a new development in the Bikeability programme. The Bikeability Trust is a new charity which has been set up specifically to promote and support the Bikeability scheme. The Trust aims to raise the profile of Bikeability, further strengthen the association with quality and seek additional funding to help deliver more training places.

The establishment of the Trust will mean some changes to the programme management of Bikeability over the coming months. In the short term, the Trust will take over distribution of the Bikeability Award Materials. You should see no change in the service and we will keep you posted on any developments that might impact the service.

The Trust will start to promote Bikeability to its key audiences and will be seeking industry input for ideas and feedback on its own plans.

Over the medium term the Trust has the potential to take on some core programme  management functions with the support of Steer Davies Gleave (SDG). It will take a while for the Trust to become fully operational and we will introduce you to Bikeability Trust staff as they are appointed and get up to speed.

The Trust is in the process of appointing trustees, under the interim trusteeship of Paul Robison, Steve Garidis and Zsolt Schuller. The trustees will be the overseers of the charity, answerable to the Charity Commission and with accountability for ensuring that the Trust meets its objectives. The trustees will be independent of any direct beneficiaries of Bikeability funding and each trustee will bring particular skills and knowledge to help guide the Trust to meet its objectives in a balanced way.
