Refreshing and Developing Skills

Lincolnshire County Council’s team of Bikeability Instructors have been very busy preparing themselves for a new academic year of Bikeability delivery by attending a number of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training days, run by Outspoken Training.

In total, Outspoken ran three, 2 day courses for a total of 37 Lincolnshire instructors in venues throughout the county. The 2-day courses also gave the instructors the opportunity to update themselves with good practice guidance and share opinions on how to achieve the most effective delivery of courses.

Refresher topics included:

  • The 7 Underpinning Principles of The National Standard
  • Level 1 refresher
  • Risk Management
  • Site Selection
  • Moving Trainees
  • Level 2 refresher
  • Effective Feedback

Feedback received was extremely positive and reflected the enjoyment the instructors and instructor trainers had over all days:

“It was a good balance of information and practical. Lots of useful updates ensuring all instructors are keeping to The National Standards”

Phil Watt, Cycling Officer from Lincolnshire County Council was thrilled with the feedback and is confident this will lead to more consistency with Bikeability delivery in Lincolnshire. He said:

“It is great working with Outspoken Training! They really understand how the National Standards should be delivered and always inspire our instructors to find ways to continually improve themselves.”

Outspoken have been working with Lincolnshire County Council for 6 years and have thoroughly enjoyed working with and supporting the development of each instructor. We look forward to hearing their memorable experiences throughout the academic year!
